It is one of the important educational resources and contains basic and complementary science processes.
Science laboratories are unique from other educational resources in that they contain many basic and complementary science processes in which it is necessary to accustom the student to discovery and experimentation. The student conducts the experiment himself, thus increasing the student’s motivation to learn and acquire new skills and abilities.
Studies confirm the need for the student to practice the scientific side, and to use the methods of discovery, investigation, experimentation and problem-solving under the supervision and guidance of the teacher and the laboratory technician. Therefore, the education policy in the ministries of education around the world is keen on forming practical skills and taking care of the applied aspects. Education through the laboratory awakens interest, develops the ability to observe, accurately record, conclude based on facts, and develop skills and methods of meaningful value. Therefore, the laboratory is one of the basics of the educational process, and some even consider it The beating heart of the school.
The importance of laboratories:
The importance of school laboratories lies in the fact that they work on developing scientific thinking among students, such as identifying problems, imposing hypotheses, and developing practical skills among students, such as: connecting devices, doing some laboratory operations, holding tools, and storing them when conducting experiments. Scientific knowledge among students, such as the accuracy of objective observation, not rushing to issue judgment, proper conclusion of ideas, and searching for evidence. This is considered a primary goal in teaching science, and using the laboratory provides a good opportunity for students to be creative and innovative. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on laboratory science skills in all its scientific aspects, whether traditional or modern technology. In it and showing the most important service facilities for students in the field of research and innovation. Oman met with the supervisor of science laboratories at Musandam Education and a number of laboratory technicians and students.
Science laboratories hopes and ambitions:
Adhari bint Masoud Al Shehiya, supervisor of science laboratories at Musandam Education, said: “There is a consensus between the visions of the Ministry of Education and UNESCO that scientific innovation and development in the fields of science has become one of the most important concerns that occupy developed societies, and they are keen to focus on it with all their capabilities. Therefore, the Sultanate’s schools in general enjoyed the latest technologies.” In equipment and furniture for science laboratories, special designs have also been allocated for each type of laboratories with their various specializations: biology, chemistry, physics, and general science laboratories, and ensuring regular maintenance to keep them safe and attractive to students at the same time, in addition to a wide range of technical sensors that have replaced many traditional tools. In practical experiments, which were designed to be in line with science experiments at all levels, the most important of which are computerized microscopes and sensors of temperature, pressure, respiration, acidity, sound, light, and others – all of this was a reason for increasing the passion of education for science and innovations and increasing the percentage of student participation in recent years in various scientific projects.
